It also uses an Ethernet card, in turn providing the ability to network multiple home computers or laptops in the home. DIRECWAY satellite internet performs at typical speeds of 8 times faster than dial-up services, and depending on the file type, can download at speeds of up to 20 times faster. While upload times are similar to dial-up service, downloads are extremely fast…up to 500Kbps.
Two plans are available for new DIRECWAY customers. Equipment may be purchased up-front with a monthly rate around $60/month, or users may opt for a pay-as-you go plan with a monthly fee around $100. Either of the access plans requires a 15 month commitment.
In addition, some distributors have different specials on equipment, monthly fees and/or initial contract requirements, so consumers are advised to shop around. Additionally, DIRECWAY equipment can also be bundled with DIRECTV dish receivers to receive both satellite internet access and satellite television programming.
